AFLAS



The Asian Federation of Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS) is an alliance organization of laboratory animal science associations and societies based in countries and regions across Asia. It was jointly initiated by Japan, China, and South Korea on November 29th, 2003, with a current membership of 11 member organizations.


The aim of Asian Federation of Laboratory Animal Science (AFLAS) is to promotes through international co-operation Asian Congresses on Laboratory Animal Science for the purpose of reviewing scientific, technical and educational problems in Laboratory Animal Science, to develop other relevant activities in the interest of Laboratory Animal Science, and to contribute to animal welfare.

The AFLAS Congress, held biennially, is a scientific event that has successfully been held nine times in various countries and regions across Asia. It brings together top scientists, researchers, industry experts, and academic representatives from the global laboratory animal science and technology field, aiming to promote academic exchange and cooperation in the global Laboratory Animal Science field.

 



In 2023, Professor Qin Chuan, President of Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences (CALAS), was elected as the President of AFLAS. The 10th AFLAS Congress will be hosted by CALAS in Hangzhou China in 2025 under her presidency.
